internet’s down again — more later …

(This message brought to you via painfully slow dial-up)
The last fix lasted about three days. Waiting, once again, for the Time Warner repairman to come back. I’ll post when I’m back online.

On the surface, it would appear you and this Time-Warner guy have a thing going on, but I smell a true crime story brewing….

This is unrelated to your internet troubles, but I wanted to register to tell you that I picked up The Surgeon yesterday and am nearly done with it. It is really hard to put down! Just wanted to let you know that I’m new to your books and your blog, but think that I will continue to really enjoy both. Thanks for writing.

Hope to see you back online soon, Tess!

God Tess, I just read the Publishers Weekly review of your new novel on Amazon.com and they are some vicious ass**** if you ask me. Who told them they are literary gods??? Uggh, that makes ME mad and I’m not even the writer I can imagine what they do to you. Sorry for them Tess, not everyone thinks so narrow mindedly and stupid as they do.

Hi Tess,
Isn’t modern technology wonderful? While you’re waiting, you could read War and Peace…….. good luck!

Stupid internet.

I think what you’re going through is my worst nightmare… I absolutely loathe slow internet connection (and slow computers for that matter..).
See you when you come back online!

Hey Tess!
Isn’t it funny? No matter how many books you sell, you still can’t name-drop like Julia Roberts can… “Hi, this is Tess Gerritsen calling… again.”
Too bad Warner isn’t your publisher! (That’s all the same company, right?) You could threaten not to deliver your next book unless they fixed your internet!
Good luck with it! I feel your pain…!

If this continues you’re going to have to hire a blimp and run your posts on that- GoodYear style. We have to get our Tess fix.

Have you seen that advert where Dustin Hoffman’s phone cuts out at a crucial time and it costs him dollars? The pretty little thing standing over his shoulder tells him that it wouldn’t happen in Australia. Guess, what, It doesn’t. PLUS, Internet breakdowns don’t occur here either. Well, I can say that with my hand on my heart because in all the years we’ve had broadband and before that - dialup we’ve never had a problem. So, the solution - move to Australia - there’s a nice little cottage going opposite the beach in Mornington Victoria for about 2.5mil….Cheers, MamaKaz

Wow! I am currently living in Romania, serving in the Peace Corps, and I thought our internet problems were related to developing East European countries. We waited 2 months for our internet service to get installed, mostly because our apartment building did not have that company’s service. It was very frustrating wanting to contact people back home yet having to cope with a foreign language and foreign technology. Now we have very fast internet, most days. That’s why I can be here! Hope you’re back online soon. I feel your pain!

I just read The Mephisto Club and was looking up some info on some of the subjects you wrote about and decided to check out your website, where I found your blog. I just want to say I am amazed at your energy, and your generosity in letting anyone at all pick your brain for information on writing. I have really enjoyed your books, but I believe I may enjoy your blog more!

And I hated TW too - until we moved and got Comcast. That said, there is no discernable difference in the customer “service.” Good luck with that!

Well, since we’re entertaining each other thanks to Time Warner let me rant. I won’t mention the company’s name to protect the stupid but the initials are R.S. I went into one of these places to pick up a new computer keyboard. I was told that if I were to get an R.S. card I could save 10% so I did. I got the bill and paid it. Yesterday I got a second bill for $29.00 This was the late fee for my purchase of $19.47, a $153% punishment because my check didn’t make it to the right cubicle in time. I got online and tried to find a talking head–the 1-800 number on the bill was useless. I got hold of someone in internet sales and told her the problem and she very quickly gave me another 1-800 number for customer service, a number not on the bill. Well, they were closed for the night. I said screw it and just sent them a note canceling the card and telling them how soon they’d be getting their $29–Never!!! I understand that this isn’t the same as Time Warner’s strangle hold but my point is that when you’re the small fish in the pool and your stores are closing in Oklahoma City at an alarming rate–I used to have 2 within a mile of my house–both gone–I wouldn’t go alienating the few customers I have left. Thanks for letting me rant. And everybody–stay out of R.S.; it’s not worth the aggravation.

Hi Tess. Just had to register and tell you how much I’m enjoying your blog. I’m new to your books but after reading here, I bought “Harvest” and am loving it. What a great story! Can’t wait to read ALL of your books!
